來自許多醫(yī)學(xué)分支的新證據(jù)不斷證明營養(yǎng)對各種疾病過程的重要性。雖然在預(yù)防高血壓和冠心病等疾病方面已經(jīng)取得了相當(dāng)大的進(jìn)展，但對可靠膳食指南的研究仍在繼續(xù)。該雜志的編輯通過仔細(xì)選擇提供有關(guān)人類營養(yǎng)和代謝疾病的新信息的基礎(chǔ)和臨床報(bào)告，包括它們的分子遺傳學(xué)，顯示了他們對這項(xiàng)研究的奉獻(xiàn)精神。論文提出了關(guān)于一些問題的原始發(fā)現(xiàn)，如特定飲食和膳食補(bǔ)充劑的后果、代謝和胃腸疾病病因中的營養(yǎng)因素、飲食習(xí)慣與疾病發(fā)病率之間的流行病學(xué)聯(lián)系。

New evidence from many branches of medicine constantly demonstrates the importance of nutrition on various disease processes. While considerable progress has already been made towards the prevention of disorders like hypertension and coronary heart disease, the search for reliable dietary guidelines continues. The editors of this journal show their dedication to this search by carefully selecting basic and clinical reports offering new information relating to human nutrition and metabolic diseases including their molecular genetics. Papers present original findings dealing with problems such as the consequences of specific diets and dietary supplements, nutritional factors in the etiology of metabolic and gastrointestinal disorders, and the epidemiological association between dietary habits and disease incidence.
